Understanding Life Plan Communities
Life Plan communities, also known as “Life Care” or “Continuing Care Retirement Communities” (CCRCs) offer independent living and a complete spectrum of support and health care services for older adults, if and when those services are needed. These communities require a one-time “Entrance Fee” and a “monthly fee.”
Entrance Fee
The Entrance Fee is used to create various options for discounts and/or free days of care in assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing and in home services. Most Entrance Fees offer a level of refundability; returned to you/your estate upon re-occupancy of your apartment. The Entrance Fee can be considered an investment because a large percentage of this fee is returned to you. This is known as “Return of Capital” (at Lexington Square we offer two options – 55% and 90% Return of Capital).
Monthly Fee
The Monthly Fee, which varies based on the size of your apartment, covers daily living expenses. A contract or agreement between you and the Life Plan community assures your apartment and priority access to assisted living, memory care, and nursing for the duration of your residency. Costs for higher levels of care are determined by the Life Plan option you select.

So At Lexington Square in Lombard, we offer three flexible health coverage plans and two different options for refundability of your Entrance Fee.
Not only will you have predictable health care costs, you will have lifetime priority access to a range of continuing care services now and in the future. And, you will be protecting your assets, as a portion of your entrance fee will always be refundable to your estate.

You want to protect yourself from catastrophic health care costs, while also being sure you will have access to the right care. You’d like to be able to choose the option that gives you specific benefits, such as free, discounted, or below market rate days in nursing, assisted living, or memory care. We understand your desire to leave and enjoy other places for extended periods of time (like all winter!!). And we want to help. For extended stays (30 consecutive days or more), we will discount your monthly apartment fee while you are away. At Lexington Square you can lock the door and go! You’ll have peace of mind knowing that we are looking after your apartment while you are gone.

Our Move-in Coordinator can help coordinate your packing and moving services, plan your new space, ensure that Wi-Fi and other connections are working on move-in day, and more.
